FERN Facility & Equipment
FERN features a research-dedicated 3T Siemens PrismaFit (whole-body) scanner installed in the PAIS building. This system is equipped with a gradient system with a maximum strength of 80 mT/M and slew rate of 200 T/m/s, and 64 independent RF receiver channels, which can be configured in a wide variety of combinations. We have a variety of coils, including a 32-channel head /neck coil, 20-channel head/neck coil, spine matrix coil, and large and small flex coils. In addition to the 3T MR scanner, FERN houses a private waiting area, a MRI simulator ("mock scanner"), behavioral testing space, and bathroom and locker facilities. Parking for participants is available in the Peavine Visitor Lot less than 100 yards from the PAIS building.
